Vaccination documentation is a requirement for healthcare workers, vendors and traveling employees alike. Many vaccines require multiple doses to build the appropriate immune response, however there is not a one size fit all schedule for all vaccines. Information about frequently requested vaccines can be found below.
Vaccine Dose Schedules
MMR vaccine
The MMR vaccine is a combination live vaccine that protects against three viruses: Measles, Mumps and Rubella. Employees should have at least two doses of the vaccine administered twenty-eight days apart.
Varicella vaccine
The Varicella vaccine protects against the virus which causes chickenpox. The Varicella vaccine, much like the MMR vaccine, is a live vaccine that follows a two-dose schedule given twenty-eight days apart.
TDAP vaccine
The TDAP vaccine is the vaccine for Tetanus, Diphtheria and Pertussis, also known as Whooping Cough. Tetanus, Diphtheria and Pertussis are common throughout the world and it is recommended that employees are up to date with this vaccine, receiving it once every ten years.
Hepatitis B vaccine
Hepatitis B is a contagious liver infection which is spread via bodily fluids. The Hepatitis B Vaccine protects against the virus, which can prevent lifelong infections and complications to the liver. The Hepatitis B vaccine typically follows a three-dose schedule spread out over a six month period. Doses are administered initially, twenty-eight days after the first and a final dose six months after the first.
Hepatitis A vaccine
Hepatitis A is a virus that affects the liver. Although it does not become a chronic infection, symptoms can persist for weeks or months and severe cases can cause liver problems. The Hepatitis A vaccine is a two-dose series, administered six months apart. For those employees who are needing both the Hepatitis A and Hepatitis B vaccines, a combination vaccine can be administered following the three-dose schedule.
Flu vaccine
The flu vaccine is used to prevent illness from the contagious respiratory illness caused by the Influenza virus. The flu vaccine is a yearly requirement for those working in healthcare industries, but also many other industries as well.
COVID-19 Vaccine Consideration
It is the recommendation of the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), that the COVID-19 vaccine is not administered if a previous vaccination has taken place within the past fourteen days.
