B Type Natriuretic Peptide

B type natriuretic peptides (BNP) is a hormone produced by the heart. Typically, only a small amount of BNP are found in the blood stream, however, high levels can indicate that the heart is not pumping as much blood as the body needs. BNP testing measures the levels of BNP in a blood sample. This can be useful in diagnosing heart failure.
