Plethysmography

Plethysmography is a commonly ordered test used for pulmonary function testing. It measures how much air is present in the lungs after taking a deep breath, and how much is left after exhaling as much as possible. The test occurs in a box with large windows, much like a telephone booth. While wearing a nose clip, air is breathed into a special mouthpiece.
